Election results: Keith Sampson (153 votes), Richard Pierce (156 votes), David Hinkle (133 votes) and Clinton Lucas (158 votes).  Unofficial tallies reported by the Virginia State Board of Elections, as reported in May 2, 2012 Edition of the Daily News-Record. Congratulations to all.

Dave Hinkle and Dorothy Pendley are running for Council. Also running for Council are Keith Sampson and Richard Pierce. Mayor Lucas is running unopposed for the Mayor’s position.  Election status updated on March 14, 2012 by Shenandoah Newz staff and confirmed via personal at Shenandoah Town Office.

Councilman Russ Comer will not seek re-election. "My wife has health problems, and I think my time will be better served with her," said Comer.  Mayor Lucas, Councilman Pierce & Sampson has declared candidacy for the May 1 town election. (Source: February 23rd edition of The page News and Courier)

There are three (3) council terms expiring, which are Russell Comer, Jr., Keith Sampson, and Richard Pierce. Mr. Comer has served since 2008, Mr. Sampson has served since 2005, and Mr. Pierce has served since 2003.  Mayor Clinton Lucas’ term also expires, and he has served since 1990.  The council terms are for 4 years and the Mayor’s term is for 2 years.  The deadline to be on the ballot is Tuesday, March 6, 2012.  You need to file with the General Registrar, Carol Gaunt, located at 551 Mechanic Street Luray, VA 22835.  For additional information you may call 540-743-3986.
