The Town of Shenandoah is sponsoring two Halloween decorating contest this month.
The contests are a Festive Pumpkin People decorating contest for businesses and residents and a Halloween decorating contest. See description and rules of each contest at bottom of this article.
Update Monday November 3, 2025:
The Halloween Decorating contest winners:
1st place went to 317 North Third St.
2nd was a tie as judge couldn't decide, as they were both so good, 400 5th St and 404 3rd.
3rd place went to 321 3rd St.

The winner was 214 3rd Steet
2nd went to 809 9th Street
3rd went to 1009 Jr Avenue.

There are a lot of good decoratins in town this year, so Shenandoah Newz will be going out and taking pictutres of a few of them in the next coulple of days. We don’t know who is entered in the contest and really don’t want to know. We just want to show case what we see as we are driving around the town taking random pictures. Halloween Decorating Contest
The Town of Shenandoah will be having a Halloween decorating contest! Join in spreading spooky fun and
creative decorating throughout the town.
Contest Categories:
* Spookiest House theme! Break out the fright night!
* Fall Harvest theme showcasing the glory of harvest time.
Official Rules:
* Notify the Town staff by October 17 that you will be participating. 652-8164 or email to
* Judging for will be October 29th with 1st, 2nd, 3"d place ribbons.
* Photos of entries will be posted on the Towns Facebook page.
* Only appropriate entries will be accepted.
* Extra recognition will be made for multiple houses on the same block that join
together to create a spooky street.

Festive Pumpkin People decorating contest
The Town of Shenandoah will be having a Festive Pumpkin People decorating contest for businesses and residents!
Materials to be used:
* Real Pumpkin for the head
* Metal or plastic T-Post for the body structure
* Plastic trash bag or waterproof material to hold the stuffing
* Costume or appropriate clothing
* Other real pumpkins/gourds for added decorations
Official Rules:
* Notify the Town staff by October 17 that you will be participating. 652-8164 or email
to
* Judging for will be October 29th with 1st, 2nd, 3rd place Ribbons placed on the
character. Separate awards for business and residential.
* Photos of entries will be posted on the Towns Facebook page.
* Only appropriate entries will be accepted.
* Multiple Characters are allowed.
* Pumpkin face can be painted, masks, or a combination of real vegetables. Carving is
permitted; a preservative may be used due to the rapid deterioration of the
pumpkin.
* Plan to have character(s) on display from October 20th (Or before) to November 3rd.
