Shenandoah Community Library Branch Manager Becky Deloney has announced that starting Monday July 6, 2026 the Shenandoah Library will have new operating hours.

Monday to Thursday 10:00 am. to 6:00 pm. Friday and Saturday 10:00 am to 2:00 pm. This change increases the days they are open from three to six days a week!

Listed below is some of the fun events happening at the Shenandoah Library in July 2026:

 July 2-Shenandoah

10:30 a.m.-11:00 a.m. Chapter Book Club at the Shenandoah Community Library 418 S Third Street, Shenandoah, VA 22849.  Kids ages 6-11: join your friends at Shenandoah Community Library for our limited-time Chapter Book Club! We'll choose exciting chapter books for Ms. Becky to read aloud, with no required reading at home. We'll also provide recommendations for classic and new chapter books!

 

July 2-Shenandoah

11:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. Healthy Living Class at the Shenandoah Community Library 418 S Third Street, Shenandoah, VA 22849.  Come join us monthly to learn ways to live a healthy life. Classes are led by Heather Shanahan, a registered nurse and nutritionist. All ages are welcome to come discuss topics in nutrition, exercise, and living a balanced, healthy lifestyle.

 

July 2-Shenandoah

2:00 p.m.-4:00 p.m. Make Your Own Book at the Shenandoah Community Library 418 S Third Street, Shenandoah, VA 22849.  Teens and tweens (ages 11-17): make your own book from scratch, from binding the pages to attaching the covers!  This program will take most of the 2 hours, so come early if you want to go through the whole process.

July 7-Shenandoah

11:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. Dinosaur Dig Story Time at the Shenandoah Community Library 418 S Third Street, Shenandoah, VA 22849.  Kids (ages 0-5): Join Miss Stephani to learn more about our prehistoric friends through books and songs! After this special Story Time, we'll enjoy dinosaur crafts and even dig some dinosaurs!

 

July 7-Shenandoah

2:00 p.m.-3:00 p.m.  Toads, Turtles, and Snakes at the Shenandoah Community Library 418 S Third Street, Shenandoah, VA 22849.  Kids and teens of all ages: Join us to learn about the many toads, turtles, and snakes that call the Shenandoah Valley their home! Shenandoah River Park Chief Ranger, Megan Goin, will bring real reptiles to the library for you to see.

Whether you're just learning to write, want to practice your handwriting or cursive skills, or even practice typing a letter, we'll provide what you need to have fun writing! If you do not have someone to write to, feel free to write a card or letter "from a library friend," and we'll deliver cards and letters to Page One right here in Shenandoah to be shared in the community.

 

July 11-Shenandoah

10:00 a.m.-11:00 a.m. Dogs 2 Read 2 at the Shenandoah Community Library 418 S Third Street, Shenandoah, VA 22849.  K-5 kids: join us for the debut of Shenandoah Community Library's Dogs 2 Read 2 (D2R2)!  Dogs are wonderful listeners and love to hear stories! D2R2 is a great chance for kids in grades K-5 to practice their reading skills with wonderful and well-behaved pups. Come meet our furry friend Rigel and celebrate the start of Dogs 2 Read 2 at Shenandoah Community Library!

11:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. Story Time with Penelope Rex at the Shenandoah VFW 1103 Varina Avenue, Shenandoah, VA 22849.  Join us for a special Story Time with the dinosaur, Penelope Rex! Penelope can't wait to meet her fans, take a picture, give a high five, or just say "Hello."  Penelope Rex is the title character in a series of books by Ryan T. Higgins. Her books are available at Massanutten Regional Library.
